Auction Submit tm Reference Guide
File Menu

The file menu is used for the following functions:

  1. To import auction listings directly from eBaytm into your copy of Auction Submit.

    • If you are just starting with Auction Submit and have previously submitted listings to eBaytm either manually or with another tool, you can import them directly into your copy of Auction Submit.

    • Another great use is to import listings that you have submitted previously using Auction Submit. This can be a lifesaver if anything ever happens that affects your Auction Submit database. You can always reinstall Auction Submit and then import all of your existing listings on eBaytm.

    • If you maintain multiple copies of Auction Submit, this might also be used to import listings submitted from one copy into another copy.

To use this function, first make sure that your eBaytm defaults are set. In particular make sure that you have entered a correct User Name. Get online. Select "Import" from the File dropdown menu and click on "Import eBay Auctions".

You should get a status screen and once the software has connected to eBaytm this screen will tell you how many total listings are being imported and the status of the import. When the import is completed, you will see a report window which tells you how many listings were imported. Just close this window and your listings will appear on the appropriate screen of Auction Submit.

Here are a few notes that will help you better utilize this function:

    • The Import function will import all listings (except for those in "Mature" categories or on eBay Motorstm) that are available for unrestricted viewing on eBaytm that are currently open or that have closed in the past 30 days. Listings that closed with bids will be displayed on the Auction Submit "Sold" screen. Listings that closed without a bid will be listed on the Auction Submit "Unsold" screen. All active listings will be listed on the "Current Auctions" screen.

    • The Import function will not import listings that are in any of the "Mature" categories.

    • The Import function will not import listings that are on eBay Motorstm and will generate an error message if you attempt to do this.

    • The Import function DOES NOT import special settings like indications of a reserve price or featured settings. This means that a closed auction that had bids but did not meet its reserve will be imported onto the Sold screen. If this occurs you can always use the Move to Unsold function to shift it to the Unsold screen. When relisting closed items that have been imported, you resubmit the item using the Relist function. This will allow you to set a reserve or select featured settings. Items that are relisted after being imported may not be eligible for the eBay relist credit.

    • The Import function imports ALL fields supported by Auction Submit. This means that your full description text (not just a listing number and title) is imported to your copy of Auction Submit. This may slow down the process a bit (depending on your connection speed).

    • Keep in mind that when the full description is imported, that all HTML formatting is also imported. This means that if you import listings that were created with a template, all of the template HTML will appear in the description field. If you have previously templated listings, do not use the Auction Submit Template function on these listings or you will insert your old template inside a new template.

  2. To import listings directly from a shop on Shoporiumtm into your copy of Auction Submit.

    • If you are just starting with Auction Submit and have previously listed items manually on Shoporiumtm you can import them directly into your copy of Auction Submit.

    • Another great use is to import listings that you have submitted previously using Auction Submit. This can be a lifesaver if anything ever happens that affects your Auction Submit database. You can always reinstall Auction Submit and then import all of your existing listings on Shoporiumtm.

    • If you maintain multiple copies of Auction Submit, this might also be used to import listings submitted from one copy into another copy.

To use this function, first make sure that your Shoporiumtm defaults are set. In particular make sure that you have entered your registered Email Address. Get online. Select "Import" from the File dropdown menu and click on "Import Shoporium Items".

You should get a status screen and once the software has connected to Shoporiumtm this screen will tell you how many total listings are being imported and the status of the import. 3. To export auction data from Auction Submit to Microsoft Access or Excel.

    • This function allows you to export data about your closed auctions in a comma delimited format (.csv file) and is intended to be useful for bookkeeping purposes..

    • Fields exported include Title, Listing Number, Site, Starting Price, Final Price, Closing Date, and Quantity Sold.

To use this function, select "Export Listings" from the File dropdown menu.

This will open an "Export Auction Submit Listings" window. Select the folder where you want to save this file, give the file a name, and then click the "Save" button. You should get a "Listings Exported" window when the export is completed.

  4. To access the Template Manager screen.

This screen is used to import new templates. For more info on creating and importing your own templates see the Template Guide.
